Fear is, “an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat” (Oxford Languages on-line definition).

Fear can be counterproductive when it is imagined or the likelihood of what is feared miniscule.

Fear is appropriate, preferred, and beneficial in times of real emergencies and/or the environment dictates.

God created mankind (male and female) in his own image and likeness for his own glory (Isa 43:7). The purpose of our creation is to dwell with God on earth into eternity.

God is jealous for mankind, his creation. Because of sin, the world, and the devil (Eph 2:1) mankind rejects their creator and chooses to live in darkness and death rather than be reconciled with God.

The scriptures are replete with warnings to fear God and live. Yet mankind ignores these warnings choosing rather to make God’s jealousy rage by worshiping gods and idols that are no gods at all. These are called idolators in the Bible. Or mankind ignores what they know by conscience to be true and claim there is no God or gods. These are called fools in the Bible.

Revelation is closing time for mankind to fear God and live. During the tribulation the majority of humanity will not fear God and choose death.

Rev 9:20-21 – The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols… 21 nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

Judgment does not bring repentance. God’s loving kindness does. Extend to a neighbor today God’s loving kindness and his invitation for reconciliation through Jesus Christ before the church is called home.
