The account of Adam and Eve in the Garden reveal that Fickle fans have always existed. Fickleness is an unavoidable consequence of creation of sentient beings.

Fickle Eve ate forbidden fruit to gain wisdom. Fickle Adam ate forbidden fruit because Eve gave it to him.

Fickle Cain presented an unacceptable offering to God. He killed his brother Abel whose offering had been accepted.

Adam was created in the image and likeness of God. Eve was created from Adam, also in the image and likeness of God. So, does that mean God is Fickle?

God is not Fickle. God’s character is revealed in the glory of his name in Exodus 34:6-7 – The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation. God’s name is Faithfulness itself.

Was Jesus (the God/Man) Fickle or Faithful as God (the Father) of the Old Testament?

John 5:19 – So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.

Philippians 2:8 – And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Hebrews 5:8-9 – Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.

Are you still a Fickle fan? Or have you found light, life, and freedom being a Faithful follower of Jesus Christ?
