PARADOX IN PARADISE
What was begun at the beginning has continued to this day. Paradise was in the Garden of Eden along with the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
In the Garden, God allowed the Serpent the opportunity to present mankind with a PARADOX that deceived Eve, caused Adam to disobey, bringing sin, death, and rebellion into the world. All of mankind since have fallen into sin and death with most staying there due to the continuing deception of the PARADOX of the Serpent.
The PARADOX was introduced with a facetious question that causes one to question the character of God. “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” (Gen 3:1).
Once the seed of doubt was planted in the mind of Eve and Adam, the PARADOX itself had no problem seating itself as ruler of human consciousness. Where it continues to rule to this day.
“You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Gen 3:4-5).
Here’s the PARADOX – Being like God, knowing good and evil, would mean knowing disobedience to a command of God was evil. But trying to become like God to discover what being like God that was like brought sin and death to all mankind and corruption and decay to the entire cosmos.
In two simple questions the Serpent tanked the creation of which it says, “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good” (Gen 1:31). Or did he?...
PARADOX still exists – mankind seeking to be like God, knowing what is good and what is evil on their own.
PARADOX resolution: Jesus – “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).
