Who is higher than the highest one to whom the highest one can look to for guidance?

Jesus, incarnate Son of God, born of a woman, completely human and completely God listened to and obeyed the voice of His Father even to death on the cross. What the world saw as a defeat on the cross Jesus saw beyond trusting it to be the greatest victory in all eternity.

The extent of that victory begins to be seen when Jesus takes a scroll from His Father’s hand in heaven.

A new song is sung in heaven, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth” (Rev 5:8-10).

All creatures in heaven say, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” (Rev 5:12).

All heavenly and earthly creatures say, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” (Rev 5:13).

The writer of Hebrews tells us who to follow in Heb 12:1-2 – “…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Paul tells us why to follow Jesus in Eph 2:10 – “For we are his [God’s] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

In short, “Simply Believe God and Follow Jesus!”
