#009 DrZ introduces the four main classes of heavenly beings revealed in Scripture. Three of which are embodied spirit beings (seraphim, cherubim, and angels) and the fourth are disembodied spirits (demons/evil spirits). God who "is" spirit created all the heavenly host through Jesus Christ and maintains their existence.
Each class of being has a different role in heaven. The seraphim are around the throne of God acknowledging the holiness of God 24/7. Cherubim, are the guardians and carriers of God's throne. Angels are ministering spirits of the redeemed and the executioners of God's judgment on the wicked during the Great Tribulation. Demons/evil spirits are disembodied spirits who work mischief through individuals and communities.
Spiritual warfare is ongoing in heaven and on earth. Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." These powers and spiritual forces have wrecked havoc in Christian communities since the establishment of the church in the book of Acts. And they have a ruler, his name is Lucifer, and we'll learn more about him in our next Episode - #010.
