#069 This is our fifth of eight episodes in our mini-series entitled, Greatest Victory EVER! | Matthew to Acts. This will be our first of two episodes overviewing the book of Acts. On this episode we’ll cover chapters 1 to 14 looking at the Holy Spirit in Action.
Before his arrest and crucifixion, Jesus promised his disciples that he was not going to leave them alone. John 14:26 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
The Holy Spirit not only reminded the disciples all of what Jesus had said, recording his words in their gospels, but the Holy Spirit ignited and fueled the conversion of thousands; launching what we know today as the Church Age. And ever since, the Holy Spirit has been at work fulfilling the purpose for which He was sent.
John 16:7-13 – Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. 12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Given this is an overview we’ll cover a lot but certainly not all of what the Holy Spirit did in the first fourteen chapters of Acts. My hope for you is that you have ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is telling you as you listen to Him. As a believer, the Holy Spirit indwells within you to teach you all things, guide you into all truth, and will declare to you things that are to come!
