Believing in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the central tenet of a believer. Paul writes of this belief as being a matter of salvation.

Rom 10:8-10 – “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

The only way one can believe in the heart is if the heart experiences a change from its wicked condition noted in Jer 17:19. This occurs when God sends his love into our heart’s as noted by Paul in Rom 5:5 – “God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

Paul also noted we are saved by the “God faith” of Abraham, the father of faith, which was credited to Abraham as “righteousness.” And what was it that demonstrated Abraham’s – “God faith?”

Heb 11:19 – “He [Abraham] considered that God was able even to raise him [Isaac] from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.”

Why is believing in the resurrection a central tenet? Because God is also going to raise us up from the dead. 1 Cor 6:14 – “By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.”

And what kind of body shall we have?

1 Jn 3:2 – “Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”
