“Where do we go when we die?,” is one of life’s ultimate questions asked after mankind was expelled from God’s garden. The earliest writer in the Bible was Job, and he answered this question with certainty.

Job 19:25-27 – “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!”

How did a man who lived before the Patriarch’s of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob prophecy about the resurrection? He had the “God faith” of Abraham later revealed in the scriptures.

That “God faith” exhibited by Job and later by Abraham was explained by Paul in Romans 4:20-22 – “No unbelief made him [Abraham] waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was ‘counted to him as righteousness.’”

Two promises of God that Abraham saw fulfilled was first the conception and birth of his son Isaac when Sarah was beyond the age to bear children (see Heb 11:11). And second, Abraham figuratively received Isaac back from the dead (see Heb 11:19).

The Holy Spirit that indwells believers provides that “God faith,” to believe you too will be resurrected as Paul noted in 1 Cor 6:14 – “And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.”
