From Word “Smart Lookup.”

  • In religion and theology, revelation is the revealing or disclosing of some form of truth or knowledge through communication with a deity or other supernatural entity or entities.
  • A surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way.

The Revelation of God to Jesus Christ through an angel to John reveals things John saw, things that are, and things that are to come. Without this book believers would be blind in their faith as to the fulfillment of all that God has promised.

Old Testament saints had the “God faith” of Abraham [faith that is counted as righteousness]. They believed God would fulfill his promises.

Jesus, the Son of Man of Daniel 7, was “hidden” from the Jews. With this “mystery” came “a partial hardening… upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in” (Rom 11:25). The Gentiles “coming in” are believers, the bride of Christ.

Once the fullness is reached the “dead in Christ” and “all believers still alive” will be called up to heaven to meet the Lord in the air (1Th 4:13-18). Remaining on earth will be the nations of the Gentiles and unbelieving Israel (God’s wife).

In Revelation we see the fulfillment of the most prevalent prophecy in all scripture. Two examples.

Ps 110:5-6 – “The Lord [Jesus] is at your [God’s] right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth.”

Eze 39:21 – “And I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid on them.”

In this judgment Jesus will rescue the remnant of Israel and establish his millennial kingdom.
