The world has always been filled with religions promising temporal means of satisfying the universal angsts of life and our fears of death and “the gods” that rule over death.

Jesus did not come into the world to create a new religion. He came into the world to provide the means by which mankind could be reborn by the Spirit into eternal life.

The world is temporal, a creation by God from which he is populating an eternal reality where he will dwell with Spiritually reborn humans into eternity. Entrance into this eternal life is what the epistles and letters are communicating.

Religions promote what mankind can do to lessen life’s angst and appease “the gods” in this life and after death. The epistles and letters tell how God provided the means to eliminate mankind’s angst, fears, and death forever.

The epistles and letters promote an active and personal relationship with the Creator of everything seen and unseen through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. And they clearly communicate a believer’s life is no longer here or of the world; although we are currently living in the world.

2Cor 4:16-18 – So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Phl 3:20-21 – Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”
